In addition to the basic science courses and clinical rotations found in American medical schools, students in the MSIH learn about cross-cultural communication, disaster relief, refugee health, preventive nutrition, and healthcare economics. Students spend their first three years attending classes, taught in English, at Ben-Gurion University Faculty of Health Sciences in Beersheva, Israel. Beersheva’s desert location in southern Israel provides an unparalleled environment for the student of global health and population-based medicine. During their fourth and final year of medical study, students put their knowledge into action through a hands-on, two-month clerkship in India, Kenya, Ethiopia, Peru, or Nepal.
