Joe Cronin, Sr., President, Edvisors, Inc - Dr. Cronin founded Edvisors, Inc. in 1998. Formerly, Dr. Cronin was president of Bentley College and president of Massachusetts Higher Education Assistance Corporation. He has held numerous other positions in his work as an educator over the last 43 years, including teaching in the Braintree, MA and Palo Alto, CA public schools in the late 1950s, later holding positions as high school principal, university professor, state superintendent of Education in Illinois, and the first State Secretary of Educational Affairs in Massachusetts. Dr. Cronin earned his bachelor's degree at Harvard College, his masters at Harvard University and his Ed.D. at Stanford University.

Massachusetts Governor Frank Sargent named Dr. Cronin the first State Secretary of Education in 1971, responsible for coordinating higher education, state school policies, libraries and the arts. He served on the study commission that merged Lowell State College and Lowell Tech, now a state university branch campus. The Illinois Board of Education in 1975 appointed him State Superintendent of Education, the commissioner responsible for two million K-12 students in 1000 K-12 school districts. He served on the Illinois Community College Board and as a trustee ex officio of the University of Illinois from 1975 until 1980.

From 1980 until 1991 he served as President of the Massachusetts Higher Education Corporation, providing student and parent loans to thousands of students. He started the Education Resource Institute (TERI), ELSI, a servicing company, and was co-founder and board chair of the New England Education Loan Marketing Corporation. He later became Senior Fellow of the Nellie Mae Educational Foundation.

The Bentley College Board of Trustees in 1991 invited him to become President of Bentley College where he served six years. He fostered a stronger service-learning program, and trustees named the Joseph M. Cronin International Center recognizing the dramatic increase in students recruited from abroad. He was chairman of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Massachusetts

He taught at Stanford University, Boston College and Boston University as well as Harvard, where he was also Associate Dean of the School of Education . He served for six years on the board of Lesley University and was asked to serve as Interim Dean in 2003-04.

He has served on twenty non-profit boards including the Friends of the John Hay National Wildlife Refuge in Newbury, New Hampshire, which he chaired 2000-2002. He also served on the boards of the StonehamBank, the New England Institute of Art, and Intelligent Distance Learning Systems.
