Accredited Online Courses
Accredited online courses provide the perfect solution for millions of Americans looking to meet their educational goals. There are two types of accreditations that you should be mindful of, regional and national.
The regional accreditation is the higher ranking of the two. Regional accreditors cover a section of the United States, for example the New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredits institutions located within the six states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Most state colleges and universities also hold regional accreditations, making it easy to transfer classes.
National accreditors are different in that they accredit schools located all over the United States, as well as online schools and some schools abroad.
One thing that's important to note is that both regional and nationally accredited schools may be eligible to offer federal financial aid to their students. Be sure to ask your admissions counselor if they offer Title IV federal student financial assistance programs.
