Online Nursing Courses

Online nursing courses are a great way to begin your studies, while working on your own time and at your own pace. If there was ever a time to start working towards a nursing degree, this is it! Because of a shortage of qualified and educated nurses, there are career opportunities abound.

Online nursing courses will enable you to obtain your associates degree, and perform the non-clinical course work which is needed in order to enter into a RN licensure program. As a licensed nurse also needs to learn to perform physical skills such as drawing blood, taking blood pressure or administering medications, a nursing student will also need to perform clinical rotations, which can usually be arranged through a local medical center.

All online nursing courses are different. In some courses, students will have designated times at which their assignments are due. In others, students are allowed to work at their own pace, and submit assignments as quickly or slowly as they choose. Some online nursing courses have residency requirements, meaning that the student needs to meet in a classroom during certain portions of the class, while others are performed completely online. Which kind of course you decide to take is entirely up to you!

In order to qualify for general online nursing courses, students must meet the following educational requirements:

  • Students must have taken an SAT or ACT exam. The minimum scores required vary by the school you choose to attend.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA in the range of 2.0 to 3.25. The score will vary by the school.
  • Students must have taken at least three years of high school match, including geometry and algebra, as well as three years of high school science, including biology and chemistry.
  • Students must have taken four years of high school English, as well as two years of a foreign language.

In order to qualify for higher nursing degree courses online, a student must have:

  • A student must have a current RN nursing license.
  • A student must have graduated from an accredited nursing program.
  • A student must have obtained at least a 2.5 GPA during the course of their nursing program.
