Life After Graduation
After innumerable hours of research, writing papers, taking quizzes and tests, making presentations, and working as hard as you possibly could — you have done it! You have earned your online degree! Congratulations! It feels great, doesn't it? But... after the elation wears off, reality sets in. There is one question inevitably looming in your mind — what now? For those pursuing online education, as well as those pursuing degrees at traditional, campus-based programs — there is always the question of, what happens after all of the college coursework is done? What should your next step be? What does life after graduation entail?
Ultimately, you have two paths to take: start working, or enroll in more school. Either of these paths has the potential to lead you to great success!
While you are still in "school mode", pursuing the next higher up level of a degree may be a good idea. You are used to the demands of school, you have made a rhythm for yourself. Your have adjusted to the pattern of performing online education assignments after you come home from work, or finding time in your already busy schedule to complete course related projects. For the past few years, your life has revolved around pursuing your online degree. While you are still in this pattern, it would be rather easy to slip into an online Master's degree or an online Doctorate's degree program, especially if you also plan to do this online. Your mind is already in the online school mindset, why break it now! You may even be able to pursue the next degree at the same online school, so the familiarity of the program practices is right there in your memory!
If you have decided that continuing school is not the path for you — finding a career is the next logical step in life after you have finished your online degree program. You are ready to step out in the workforce, but despite having a degree, finding a job is not an easy task. You are stepping out of college alongside many other qualified individuals, some of whom you have worked side by side with for the past few years! Brace yourself for what might quite possibly be an arduous journey in finding the right position for you! But, rest assured, with your online degree — you are just as qualified as any other applicants. It is isn't what school or where you studied to get the degree that will make you a good employee, it is how you apply your knowledge and assert yourself professionally.
If you have been working while attending school in pursuit of your online degree, you have an even bigger choice. Do you stay at your current position? Or do you move on in your career with a different position, or even with a different company? Does having a college degree afford you the ability to ask for more money doing what you already do? Give yourself a pat on the back, encourage yourself a bit, and step on into the bosses' office! Your college degree can work wonders for your already established career!
