Online Forensic Science Degrees
With the onset of television shows about crime, the field of forensics has come to the forefront of our view in the past few years. What could be more fulfilling than being the go-to person when a crime has been committed – the person that everyone knows will be able to solve the case? If this has always been your dream – perhaps seeking a school which offers online forensic science degrees might be something to put on your to-do list!
But, what happens if this career path wasn't your first choice, and you are currently working in another field? How are you to follow your dreams of becoming a forensic scientist, if you have to keep working at a job that you aren’t happy with in order to make ends meet? An online degree program is a wonderful solution! When completing a degree program online, students are very rarely required to attend any courses at a campus. Students in online courses are able to complete coursework completely online, at times which are convenient to them, and from anywhere that has an internet connection. In this fashion, it is possible for a student to continue working at their current job while at the same time working toward furthering their education! The typical online bachelors degree program can be completed in about half the time that a traditional, campus based program can be completed, as online programs are often self-paced, and do not break for the vacations that a typical college would break for.
About Field of Forensic Science
The field of forensic science involves using scientific methods to investigate and find solutions to criminal activity. People who have forensic science degrees often investigate, collect and analyze information at crime scenes, analyze DNA, analyze and match fingerprints, and examine firearms, as well as sometimes testifying at court trials. If a forensic scientist does not choose to work in the field of criminal justice, their education in chemical analysis, biology and anatomy also opens them up to the possibility of working in coroners or medical examiners offices, hospital laboratories, clinical chemistry laboratories, and pharmaceuticals. Earning an online forensic science degree can also prepare you for a career in a great deal of other exciting paths, such as a crime scene investigator, forensic toxicologist, forensic psychologist, forensic computer specialist, or even a forensic accountant. Forensic scientists can also enter into teaching, if they choose to do so.
Online Colleges With Forensic Science Programs
Many online colleges now offer a wide range of online education programs in the field of forensic science. Some of the majors that can be encompassed in a forensic science degree are Criminal Justice, Computer Crime, Corrections, Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Psychology, Law Enforcement, Legal Studies, Auditing/Forensic Accounting or Forensic Nursing.
