Distance Learning
Distance learning is a great way to earn an online college degree, further your career with a continuing education certificate, or even earn your dimploma with a online high school education.
Distance learning is a flexible alternative to a traditional school setting, and allows you to complete your degree online at your own pace. With distance learning, you are able to recive your degree on your own time, with hundreds of programs available. Distance learning programs are accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, and are quickly becoming a popular option among students of all ages. Whetther you are a working parent, or a college student looking to save time and money on room and board fees, distance learning may be a great option for you.
Who's a Good Fit for Distance Learning?
Distance learning programs are best suited for certain kinds of personality traits that lend themselves to independent study.
Independent?
Students who have a strong desire to do things on their own, with a minimal need for guidance, are a great fit for distance learning.
Highly motivated?
If you're the kind of person who is driven to achieve, to be successful, to keep going no matter what challenges are in front of you, you'll do very well with distance learning. As with all types of school, you'll have great professors and not-so-great professors. If you can remain motivated even during the not-so-great classes, especially when there are a multitude of distractions available to you, then you'll do well in a distance learning program.
Self teachable?
By their very nature, online degree programs rely heavily on the Internet, not only as a means of taking the course, but also as the preferred method for research and self-learning. If you're capable of learning things on your own, doing your own research, and discovering new knowledge, then you'll do very well in a distance learning program.
Technology literate?
While you don't need to be a technical expert, having at least some level of comfort and familiarity with online video sites, discussion boards and forums, and live chat rooms will make for a better experience.
