Sr. Web Application Developer

We are currently seeking a Senior Web Applications Developer to work full time in our Quincy, MA office. This is 100% on site.

This person will work closely with other developers and marketing personnel to build interactive web-based applications on a LAMP platform. The ideal candidate has extensive experience building and maintaining complex web applications as well as managing internal projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Transform high-level business requirements into functional code. Educate top management on pros and cons of various implementation options.
  • Build and support complex customer-facing web applications in a LAMP development environment with a small team
  • Build and support complex back-end applications in a LAMP development environment: Data Warehousing, OLAP, CRM, reporting, custom administration panels, web services and data exchanges
  • Involvement in full development life cycle; design, coding, test, build, QA, deployment and maintenance
  • Take ownership of the company’s code base. Coordinate efforts among developers to maintain and grow the internal code library in an orderly fashion.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years development experience with advanced Linux, Apache, PHP 5 and MySQL 5 techniques
  • Strong SQL skills, including data modeling, architecture, and multiple database synchronization
  • Object-oriented architecture, domain-driven design, design patterns, code reuse
  • Personal records manipulation: data aggregation, cleansing, transformation, merge and purge, appending
  • Object-Relational Mapping (e.g. Doctrine), Symfony or other MVC frameworks
  • Experience with Web services, AJA, jQuery, Scriptaculous, Prototype
  • Firm grasp of web application security techniques
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent

  • Experience in the financial services industry and/or online education industry
  • Experienced with Agile/XP/Scrum programming methodologies, test-driven development
