Online Engineering Programs
The term "engineer" was originally used to describe someone who constructed military engines. Today, engineers work in a much wider variety of fields including technology, aeronautics, chemistry, electricity and countless others. Some sort of engineer plays a part in the devices, materials and structures that Americans use every day. If you love science and math and want to take part in a rapidly expanding industry, online engineering programs can be a good place to start.
Online engineering programs are available for people seeking degrees and certifications in almost every engineering field. Engineering degrees in varying specialties make up three of the top ten highest paying degrees. Students who wish to obtain an associate's or bachelor's degree can expect to take classes that are focused heavily on physics, chemistry, math and design. Master's degrees through online engineering programs will focus more on high-level topics such as production, management and analysis. Doctoral degrees will involve as many as seven years of research study, and require the student to submit a dissertation at the completion of their program.
Engineers will eventually need to obtain a license from a qualifying board, and board requirements can vary from state to state. Before committing time and money to online engineering programs, be sure to check with the engineering board in your state for their licensure requirements, and confirm that your school will adequately prepare you to meet them.
