Accredited Online Schools
Online degrees are just as credible as degrees from a traditional campus university, provided the school has the proper academic credentials. Nothing is more important than ensuring you only consider attending accredited online schools.
The gold standard for accreditation in the United States is regional accreditation. The majority of major colleges and universities hold regional accreditations by one of six regional accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. government. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, for example, accredits institutions located within Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Credits earned by studying at regionally accredited online schools are generally transferable to any other accredited school.
Other valid accreditations in the U.S are national, which certifies a school on a national or worldwide level, professional, which usually certifies a certain program or course of study, and religious accreditations for legitimate seminaries and schools of religious teachings.
Being mindful of the various accreditation types will help ensure you enroll in the online education program that is right for you.
