The Nurse Midwifery/ Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program is for nurses who wish to care for the health and well-being of women. This area of nursing continues to grow. Nurse Midwives often specialize in prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care for women, but many also provide care for women throughout their lifespan. Becoming a Nurse Midwife takes focus and dedication, but the rewards are immeasurable each time you touch the lives of expecting mothers and share the experience of welcoming their babies into the world. Women's Health Nurse Practitioners can become leaders in a variety of settings and situations, including opportunities to fulfill roles as primary care providers for their female patients.
To maintain the integrity of our programs and ensure Nursing@Georgetown students benefit from carefully monitored clinical experiences designed to enhance their education and coursework, Georgetown University individually selects preceptors and clinical sites based upon each student's needs and location. Georgetown faculty members will make a concerted effort to identify a highly skilled preceptor in a facility that is convenient to your current location.

Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies offers two Master of Science in Nursing programs. At Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner and MSN Nurse Midwifery/ Women's Health Nurse Practitioner programs are designed to build upon and expand the knowledge and skills a professional registered nurse has developed during baccalaureate nursing education and practice. Following program completion, students are prepared to sit for national certification exams.
