Virginia College
Founded by the Atlantis Group, Inc., in 1983 and purchased by Career Futures, Inc., in 1989, it opened its first branch campus in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1992. Its second branch campus was opened in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1993. It was acquired by Education Corporation of America in 1999, which has continued to open branches throughout the south. This college is intended to meet the needs of students who need flexibility in scheduling and who desire real-world programs in the hottest career fields.
All programs are designed to prepare students for direct entry into the job market. Curricula include business, business-related, administrative, management, technical, and professional programs. Its purpose is to meet students' needs while also serving technical and business communities as well as the general citizenry.
Virginia College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools(ACICS) to award certificates, diplomas, associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. ACICS is a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. With campuses in many parts of the country, Virginia College also offers its courses, accreditations, and degrees online.
