The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) offers financial assistance to health professions students as a means of encouraging health care in underserved communities. The types of financial aid available include scholarships, student loans, and loan repayment programs.
HRSA offers a combination of scholarships and loan programs to help finance education and training for health care workers, including doctors, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, podiatrists, veterinarians and nurses.

In exchange for scholarship awards, students must commit to provide service in the primary care health fields for a minimum of two (2) years.
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program is designed for nursing students who choose to work at a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF) after graduation. Funding is prioritized according to financial need.
