What is Affirmative Action in College Admissions

Affirmative action is intended to help schools meet goals for inclusion and a diverse school community. Qualifying students from groups identified as having experienced past discrimination and may otherwise be denied similar opportunities from other students based upon their minority status, may have their applications given extra weight to account for any possible discrepancies in the admissions process.
