Credible Labs is not a student loan lender. Instead, it is an online marketplace that helps you compare and prequalify for student loans. With Credible, you can find the rate you qualify for without negatively impacting your credit.
How Credible Works
Credible is a marketplace that allows you to compare interest rates from multiple private student loan lenders. Credible itself is not a lender. Their platform is free to use, but borrowers must still meet the qualifications of individual lenders. For example, some lenders may require a cosigner if you have a limited credit history, and some lenders may loan only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Before borrowing private student loans, exhaust federal student aid options first. This includes filing the FAFSA to apply for federal student loans and grants. And you should also search for scholarships at the local and national level. If you find you still need private student loans, we make it easy for you to compare lenders.

Credible Student Loan Refinancing
Credible offers a marketplace for borrowers to shop for refinance lenders. They do not refinance student loans but simply refer you to a participating lender. Like the in-school marketplace, you will need to create a user profile and share personal data to become prequalified. And you will be sharing sensitive data with a company that is not your lender, which means you will end up providing information to get prequalified (if applicable) and again when you submit the full application with the lender of your choice. Keep in mind that only the lender can extend a firm offer of credit (i.e. make an official loan offer) which will require a hard credit check. With Credible, there are added steps to the application process.
