Cancer Scholarships

Students who are affected by cancer often face severe financial and emotional stress. Cancer treatment can be toxic, causing interruptions in the student’s education and other activities. Life insurance and disability insurance may be unavailable, or an order of magnitude more expensive. Some employers will (illegally) refuse to hire a cancer survivor because of concerns about higher health insurance costs.

Students can be affected by cancer in many ways, including:

  • The student is a cancer patient or survivor
  • The student’s sibling or spouse, if applicable, is a cancer patient or survivor
  • The student’s parent is a cancer patient or survivor
  • The student’s parent died of cancer
